Schism has been the best X-Men event in years, a short, sharp shot to the system.

X-Men Schism was pretty good but not as good as I was imagining it would be. The hype was what failed it in the end for me. Maybe next time Marvel should keep it a surprise, instead of spoiling it in the beginning.

This should be an interesting new chapter and as one reader who has at times been baffled by their serpentine continuity, I'm glad to get a fresh jumping on point.
Verdict: Buy

The X-Men are dead. Long live the X-Men

Though Schism has had its small flaws, it is ultimately a success. This was exactly the sort of story the X-Men franchise needed. The future of these characters is now more dangerous, unpredictable, and exciting than it has been in a long time.

So in finishing; Wolverine may have been seriously out of character, it's a fact we're going to have to live with as Aaron will be guiding his development for the foreseeable future. But the action and the great art were enough to bulk up this issue to a point where I didn't hate it. But on it's final beat, I couldn't love it either.

This series and issue got us from Point A to Point B, but it wasn't great and I question the art choices in this final issue. But, it does open up a bunch of possibilities for the X-Men. Going forward we can still have the SF based stories that we've enjoyed (without Wolverine in every story) AND cover some new ground with Wolverine’s group.
