Details

Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto's Brotherhood and Professor X's X-MEN.

X-Men: First Class has noble intentions beneath its glossy sheen, as its impressive subtext confronts what it means to be different in a society in which conformism prevails.

Although to be perfectly frank, X-Men: First Class is a rock-solid piece of storytelling. It's dynamic, thoughtful, well acted and has a surplus of gingers. Which is always a wonderful, wonderful thing to have.

X-Men: First Class provides answers to questions many audience members didn't feel compelled to ask over a decade ago when Professor X (played by Patrick Stewart in a wheelchair) and his followers first battled Magneto (played by Ian McKellen) and his Brotherhood of Mutants. Such as: How did these two fellows meet?

Despite a somewhat hefty 130-minute running time, "First Class" feels swift, sleek and remarkably coherent; an even longer, more fully fleshed-out version would not have been unwelcome.

Surprise: A Newly Exhilarating 'X-Men'

Preaching mutant pride with endearing fervor, "X-Men: First Class" proves to be a mutant in its own right—a zestfully radical departure from the latter spawn of a sputtering franchise.

For X-Men Franchise, A 'First Class' Reboot

There's much to admire about X-Men: First Class, a combination reboot and prequel for a three-film mutant-superhero series that peaked with its rousing second entry, then hit the wall in a by-the-numbers adventure that languished between workmanlike and perfunctory.

And, once again, the touchstones of modern Marvel movies emerge: in-jokes and deep-geekery references for die-hard comics fans, broader gags for the mainstream, and breathtaking special-effects setpieces for both ends of the spectrum.

Michael Fassbender is magnetic in 'X-Men: First Class,' a leap up from the last 'X-Men' installment

Considering how awful the last installment was, I wasn’t expecting much from the new Marvel Comics-derived “X-Men” movie. The absence of 3-D glasses this time didn’t bode well, either – less diversion from the badness.

Prequel huh?

Let me start by saying i liked the film, both as an action film and  as an X-men life long fan. The meddle of the team which was a point of controversy since X1, i found it to be from the start a nice touch, so nothing bothered me as the chars began unraveling. The only thing that bugged me was the opening magneto scene. Identical to the X1, i would think it better to give an aerial prespective, preferably from the window the scene focuses on the end of the scene, but that's just me. I liked that xavier is self deluded in thinkin that humanity will accept them eventually. To point of fact when magneto asks him that question, there is no answer. The movie itself is on the right track as it unravells, keeping a steady pace inspite the fact that it has to deal with an enormous character panel here, modest, carefully made and balllanced, the result is  all in all a good enetertaining movie that lives up to the standards and then some, breathing life anew in our favorite mutants.
