It hasn’t gotten any less complex, but it also hasn’t lost any of its brilliance. In that sense, its success is all its own.

I suppose that if you’re a big fan of soccer and if you are looking for incredibly accurate simulation than this might not be the right game for you. I figure soccer fans can still get a great amount of enjoyment out of it regardless, but the arcade like feel of the game overall might not please the fans who are looking for something that is hyper realistic. It ultimately depends on whether fun is enough to satiate your soccer game needs.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 does not feel like a completely new game, but it has improved on many aspects that PES 2011 fell short on. Player AI in particular is some of the best I've seen in a football title, and the game overall is more fun than some of the previous titles in the series.

A lot of last year's elements remain but this is ultimately a move away from sim and closer to classic PES on PS2. It's something PES fans will welcome with open arms but FIFA players will have no reason to defect.

PES 12 may lack new modes, but substantial improvements to its AI, speed, and controls make it an exciting football game that's a lot of fun to play.

PES 2012 plays an extremely entertaining brand of football, largely sweeping away the complaints of the two previous versions in the process.

EA's game might be the more authentic representation of the sport, but this year Konami's cultured approach offers a genuinely worthwhile and distinct alternative – enough, perhaps, to cause some to switch allegiances.

If Konami can keep this form up, EA has very real reason to start worrying again, especially if FIFA 12’s dramatic and potentially user-intimidating changes (in contrast to PES’s return to purity and focus) are a sign of things to come.

While the core game is arguably as fun as FIFA's it just lacks the depth to sustain the challenge.

A big improvement over last year’s game makes PES 2012 the best option for those seeking a pick-up-and-play footy game. Hardcore fans of the sport should look elsewhere.

With FIFA learning fancy new foot skills, can PES keep up?
How times have changed. I remember the days when PES was king of the pitch, but FIFA has made a comeback that nobody could have expected. Which of the two do you prefer?

This is a fun game that keeps pace with its competitors. Generally the game is good, but many of its flaws really hurt the game. I felt that many of the issues could have been fixed and would have made this a much better game. Maybe next year this game will finally be the top game in the genre of Soccer games.

Overall, PES 2012 seems to be attempting to cling onto and recreate its halcyon days of the PlayStation 2 instead of trying to advance forward just as FIFA does year in and year out. Whereas there are some fans who like this arcade style of gameplay, I feel that this latest addition to the PES series is perhaps one release too many.
