“Blue Tip,” the best song here, which would be among the best songs on any of their other albums.

But considering how many other bands have tried to make modern versions of classic Cars songs, it’s nice to see the original article doing it better than most.

There are moments when Move Like This, the first new album by the Cars in 24 years, sounds so much like a Record by the Cars that you find yourself laughing out loud

Move Like This isn’t the last we’ve seen of The Cars and that’s a very good thing – because this album gets you revved up and ready for more.

Move Like This isn’t a failure by any means. It’s not the resounding triumph you might have hoped for, either. Yet, as Ocasek has pointed out, there’s still no one who’s as good at sounding like the Cars as the Cars are. That’s something, for sure.

Though they engage with 2011 now and then – the jittery Blue Tip concerns the pernicious effect of the media – Move Like This mainly works as a reminder of (or introduction to) their past.

Buckle up, it's a bumpy cruise down '80s Avenue

Yet compared to the band's clever early hits, the songwriting too often lapses into clunkiness: "You're my lover and forever my friend,".
