Details

A large, high-resolution LED-backlit IPS display. An incredibly responsive Multi-Touch screen. And an amazingly powerful Apple-designed chip. All in a design that’s thin and light enough to take anywhere. iPad isn’t just the best device of its kind. It’s a whole new kind of device.

...may be the most impressive piece of Apple hardware we’ve handled.

...has numerous flaws—most of which can be fixed with software updates, and we hope that they will be—but it's still a device that will undoubtedly kick off a shift in how the general population interacts with software and content.

A difficult-to-pinpoint target customer and a few pesky omissions are overshadowed by the excellent overall experience you get with Apple's iPad.

The big problem I had was in trying to understand what the iPad was for: the answer, it seems, is everything.

Considering the dearth of iPad apps thus far – there’re “only” a couple of thousand available thus far – and with multi-tasking supposedly coming in a few months, iPad’s functionality and usage cases are only going to grow.

The Apple iPad is the first affordable tablet computer worth owning, but it won't (yet) replace your laptop.

While it's not the perfect implementation of a tablet computer, the iPad is quite simply the best yet.

If I didn’t own a Kindle or an iPod touch, the decision to buy an iPad would be an easy one. But I own both, and even if I only owned one of them, it would be a tough decision.

Despite some flaws, sets a benchmark

My biggest gripe with the iPad is the omission of built-in slots for SD camera cards and USB memory sticks.

a one-gadget solution for travellers?

...to think of the iPad as an essential gadget is missing the point. This is, essentially, a very slick, very portable entertainment system.

If you need a laptop to work in something like Excel, Word, or countless other PC or Mac applications, you shouldn't expect the iPad to take its place.

Why I won't buy an iPad (and think you shouldn't, either)

The iPad you buy today will be e-waste in a year or two (less, if you decide not to pay to have the battery changed for you).

less than revolutionary for now, but holds great promise

It's an iPod too big to fit in your pocket yet too small in capacity to hold your entire music collection.

8 Things That Suck About the iPad

If you want to plug anything into this, such as a digital camera, you need all sorts of ugly adapters. You need an adapter for USB for god's sake.
