Details

Nimble and responsive
The all new Yaris takes urban driving in its stride, thanks to its quick steering, cornering confidence and excellent visibility.

The wheel-at-each-corner design and stiff bodyshell improve handling still further. This is one fun car to drive.

You won't lack space inside.
Despite being one of the shortest cars in its class, the all new Yaris has more rear knee-room than its rivals and a deeper boot, too. Pack to the roof and it'll carry 347 litres - enough to carry six large rucksacks, or a buggy and a week's shopping, for example. Need to double your load space? Just fold the seats for a full 768 litres.

The all new Yaris is a real fuel-miser, but without sacrificing performance.

With the Toyota Touch & Go† multimedia system you'll discover an impressive blend of the latest technology, with satellite navigation, Bluetooth® and a built in rear-view camera.

It may be a compact car, but it's full of safety technology. Five stars on the new, more stringent Euro NCAP safety rating system are anticipated.

With a tight turning circle and nimble handling, the all new Yaris is simple to slide into the smallest of parking spaces.

Easy to drive, economical engines including great 1.33 VVT-i, well equipped as standard, plenty of room for rear passengers, HSD hybrid model on the way.
A rather generic and and not especially distinctive design, quite a firm ride.

Successful Yaris gets better
Toyota has just launched the latest iteration of its B segment car the Yaris which competes directly with Volkswagen Polo and Ford Fiesta. What a great little car for people who have absolutely no interest in cars. It adheres totally to the worthy but dull requirement for a Toyota and judging by the care taken by Toyota at its plant in France, it is determined that that the worthy bit will involve returning to Toyota’s previously fabled reliability.

The 2011 Toyota Yaris has a few good things going for it: excellent fuel economy, an affordable base price and an eccentric appearance. However, with a lackluster cabin and an uncomfortable driver seat, other small cars are better options.

This is the third generation of the Yaris and Toyota believes it is so good that it will take sales from the class-leading Ford Fiesta. That’s a bold claim. Previously the Yaris has majored in bulletproof reliability, a spacious well-built cabin, a strong range of economical engines and low running costs. Add to this sharper styling and some of the best residuals in the class and it should do well. Is it good enough to beat the best in class? Read on to find out.

Not as comfortable as the Volkswagen Polo and less fun to drive than Ford's Fiesta, the reliable Yaris boasts few strengths over its rivals and as a result is a hard car to recommend.

The 2011 Toyota Yaris has broad appeal thanks to a wide variety of body styles and a reputation for dependability, but it falls short of being our top economy-car choice.

Toyota's European chief Didier Leroy said: 'New Yaris represents Toyota’s strongest offer yet in the important supermini segment. With its new levels of ingenuity, efficiency and quality, we are confident it can build upon Yaris’s previous success and help Toyota rejuvenate its presence in Europe and move towards one million annual sales in the region in the medium term.'

The Yaris is a decent bet if you want lots of space and luxury kit for an affordable price, but there are numerous other superminis out there that'll make your motoring classier and more fun.

The New Toyota Yaris joins the fiercely competitive Supermini market with improved interior looks and plenty of kit to add to its existing strengths of reliability and a five-year warranty.

The new Toyota Yaris is roomy, high-tech and apparently more masculine - but is it good enough to really compete in today's vast and diverse supermini sector?

Of the three distinctly different Yaris models, it's the Liftback that make the more expressive design statement and, although the Sedan is nearly 19 inches longer than the Liftback, all three vehicles share the same chassis, engine and drivetrain.
